HOMETOWN COUNTRYSIDE CONNECTION TUTORIAL

  1. First check to see how familiar the participant is with Internet. Otherwise might have to start with basic navigation skills, too.
  2. I ask how familiar they are with webpages.
  3. We will identify each part of a website.
  4. Then I ask what and where they think their site would be logically linked to our website.
  5. We set up or create a Directory page for their organization. Create a link back to main community page.
  6. After their website page is created then we start manipulating the HCC editing program...
  7. Also show them image applications(same as backgrounds...in archives then other sites) or scanned materials, if they bring in items.
  8. If links are wanted to other sites (& I encourage them to use them). I show this application and formula. Also explain where the formula is in the template if they forget.
  9. Encourage participants to include
  10. Ask for further questions. If they ask or have time and are not overwhelmed I will mention the html tags for italics, bold, color. (Generally this is saved for another time...but I refer them to the Manual.)
  11. Tell them if they have no further questions...to try and use as soon as possible to reinforce the program. And to call, email or come in person and I will help them by mentoring them further.
