Introduction

Walk into the computer section of any bookstore and you will find shelves of books about creating web pages. Many are filled with obscure codes which inhibit most casual computer users from putting information on the World Wide Web.

The Hometown Countryside Connection (HCC) Manager Program overcomes the obstacles of coding web pages by employing an easy to learn format. By clicking on your computer's mouse a few times and entering the information you want to appear on the World Wide Web, you can create a colorful, informative web page in no time.

The Hometown Countryside Connection is made possible by an LSCA grant from the Illinois State Library and by the Alliance Library System. The HCC Manager Program was developed by Infobahn Outfitters. The purpose of HCC is to provide a source of community information on the World Wide Web that can be updated in a timely manner. Your local library is already a source for much of this information, so the library is the natural starting point for this project. Participating libraries can provide everything from public access to the Internet to staff members who can help you learn the HCC Manager Program. If you have information relevant to the community in which you live, the resources are now available to help you put it on the World Wide Web.
