6.2: The Graphics Archive

To personalize and enhance your web page, you can include graphics. Ideally you will have an image of your own to use. The HCC Manager provides a number of graphics you may use on your web page. The steps required to use the graphics archive are very similar to those for using a background image (See Section 6.1)

  1. Click on the "Browse Graphics Archive" button. A second window will appear with a list of image groupings. To move between windows, use the "Window" menu from the Menu bar at the top of the web browser. (See first figure in section 6.1.)

6.3: The Graphics Tester

The Graphics Tester is divided into three sections. The first section allows you to see how a specific image looks against the background of a web page. The second section allows you to test the results of text/link color selections. The final section allows you to view the full effect of a possible background image. The Graphics Tester allows you to plug elements into each section to see how they work together.

Note: Using the graphic tester can save several steps in checking the appearance of your web page; you will not have to make changes, select "Edit this Page" from the main Manager Mode screen, make more changes, and enter them onto your web page again.

6.4: To Test a Graphic or Background Image

  1. Enter the Graphics Library/Archive from edit screen.
  2. Click on the image or the name of the image you would like to see. This step opens up the Graphics Tester with all elements set at the default except the one you are testing.
  3. To test an element with the other options you have already selected, enter the information in the appropriate blank and click on the "Try This . . . " button. For example, you may like a particular background image, but you may not be sure which text or link color shows up best against it. Enter a color and click the "Try These Colors" button. The Graphics Tester will reload applying the new elements. If you want to see how a graphic from the Graphics Archive looks, copy the URL from the Archive page, paste it into the Test Image URL blank in first section, and click on the "Try These Values" button.
  4. Copy the relevant information from the Graphics Tester into the edit screen. You may end up copying the elements from several different screens as you test before choosing the final information to put into the edit screen. Use the Window menu from web browser's menu bar to get back to the edit screen.
