Section 3: The Manager Mode Box

The commands or Functions available to you in the Manager Mode Box depend on your access privileges. If you have only Page Manager access privileges, only the Page Manager Functions will be visible to you. If you have access to the directory in which the Page resides, you will also see the Directory Manager Functions. Upper-level Managers have access to their own sets of Functions as well as lower-level Functions. There is also a group of Functions available to all Manager levels which allow navigation within the Manager Mode. The table below shows the Manager Functions for each level.

The Manager Mode box reports information about both the page and the Manager's status (see diagram at end of this section). The "Current Page" information is reported at the top of the box. This information will always tell you the name of the page you are currently on and, when applicable, the directory and/or subdirectory in which the web page is located. The name of the web page will always end in the extension ".html" (the html extension tells the web browser how to interpret the web page). The page name will be set off from a directory by a slash mark.

The name of the directories and page: /library/reading_program/list.html
The components are 2 directory names and 1 page name: /library /reading_program/ list.html
Categories of the components: main directory /subdirectory/ web page

Note: Two different types of slashes are available on the keyboard. The World Wide Web (WWW) uses the traditional / whereas the backslash \ is more common when using a MS-DOS or Microsoft Windows operating system. Like the WWW, HCCWeb uses the /.

By checking your page name you can avoid making changes to the wrong web page. Note the page location (pathway) to link other web pages to the current one.

A second piece of useful information appears in parenthesis after the Manager Functions heading. The first item in the parenthesis tells you what access level you have for the current page. This information may change from one page to another if you have different access levels for different pages and directories. The second item tells you the Manager name with which you have logged in.
